And my choice went to hairmixer. Not that I was that taken w/that site, but it led me to a virtual facelift site, which was truly amazing. Okay, I really, really want a facelift.

Looking into the 2.0 assignment, I see LifeHacks, an interesting site by Bart. The guy is big on tweeting, says it saves time for him to have a life, instead of going to unnecessary meetings. Okay, I'm going to add him.

I know how much I appreciated open page (is that what it's called?) when I bought a used computer from ebay and my daughter needed to write a paper in two days. (Note to self: always know where that back-up disk for Word is kept) before such purchases...

Just finished listening to Low Anthem, from NPR's World Cafe. Little bitty band, and hearing them on NPR led me to buy their album from their site (they're so puny, they don't even rate a listing on Amazon).

Good luck to the band--they remind me of early Band, and Jim White.

23 Things has been an excellent tool. For a technophobe like me, this has been a playful and educational journey. My one gripe: not enough time to devote to this. Sometimes, I've felt guilty completing early assignments. Later, I felt a tad resentful, feeling like I had to carry others while they "played".
While I understand the big picture, and the importance of grasping and utilizing this technology, I didn't always feel I had the work time to devote to it. I'd have gladly spent time at home, but several projects and a crisis or two nixed that.

Wow, just caught co-worker Eric V's youtube entry for his band Karote Coyote on his My Space page. What fun--almost as much fun as these cute kittie videos friends have been sending me.

It's always fun to see someone from work in a different context. Eric's always so professional at work; it was great seeing him get wild and crazy with his band on stage.

I'm not sure about the no-time-to-train-the-customer. What ever happened to the old "Teach a person to fish" way of thinking?
When possible, I always try to show our customers how to conduct research. I even give them my "Get a good overview on your subject before you begin your research" spiel, e.g., I've had several high schoolers come in confused because they were assigned "the European theater during WW II", and they though they were looking for play productions.
While I understand that time prevents a thorough transaction in some cases, my most satisfying customer experiences have come from those where I showed the customer the tricks I've learned.

Our Tech Guru was poking fun at our old IBM selectric in the staff room: "Who needs a typewriter?" Uh, folks filing 1099 tax forms perhaps?
I remember my mother buying her IBM selectric--it was like buying the best Mac laptop. She was so excited--she'd make sure its little plastic cover was on each night before retiring--like covering the canary's cage before you trundled off to bed. I was so impressed with the State Of The Art fabulous correction key.

I can't believe the buzz in the back room this morning. Our tech guru, You're Welcome, been busy this Saturday morning, bustling back and forth, helping all of us blogging virgins create our new blogs. The entire branch is a-Twitter with with blogs: what do I put in my blog, can I see yours?

Such a sense of fun--everyone's laughing, You're Welcome is in her glory. Actually, Yoou're Welcome is a misnomer: she's the most gracious tutor anyone could wish for. How nice to showcase staff talent.

House of the Scorpion

Just finished reading House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer. Different foray for me, as I'm not usually into SciFi or novels about dystopian societies.
Still, one I can recommend to many teens. Only problem was the book should've ended sooner--I think Farmer wanted to have the three quests our young hero needed survive before she felt the novel complete. The last quest seemed a little excessive.
